Darfur, November 30 (Darfur24)

Two displaced people were killed in separate armed robbery incidents in North Darfur and South Darfur amid a continuing surge in insecurity targeting civilians, especially displaced persons and traders.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 that Al-Sadiq Jibril Baballah, a displaced person working in the livestock trade, was shot dead on Friday in the town of Tabit, North Darfur.

Al-Sadiq was traveling with several displaced people from Masal camp in Khazan Tunjur to Tabit when armed men on a motorcycle intercepted their vehicle near the Tabit market, close to a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gate.

Witnesses said the gunmen ordered the passengers to exit the vehicle and demanded that the trader hand over a bag containing money. When he refused, one of the assailants shot him, killing him instantly.

The displaced people informed RSF personnel stationed in the market, and another force was dispatched to the scene. However, the perpetrators had already fled. According to witnesses, the responding force detained RSF members who had been stationed at the nearby gate on suspicion of collusion with the attackers.

In a separate incident in Nyala, South Darfur, Musa Hassan, 55, a displaced worker from the Atash camp, was killed last week after gunmen opened fire on him and his colleague during an attempted robbery.

According to witnesses who spoke to Darfur24, two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted Musa and Al-Sadiq Abdul Rahman near the commission south of the camp as they returned from their jobs at the Nyala stock exchange. The assailants demanded money from the pair, and when they refused, the gunmen shot them before stealing the money and fleeing.

Both men were taken to the camp’s health center, where Musa died five hours later from his injuries. The money stolen reportedly belonged to workers at the stock exchange, where the two victims handled loading and unloading services.

Eyewitnesses claim the attackers were wearing RSF uniforms.
