Wad Banda, November 23 (Darfur24)
Sources in Wad Banda locality, West Kordofan, reported on Saturday that three civilians have been kidnapped over the past 21 days, amid a growing wave of enforced disappearances across Kordofan and Darfur, many of them carried out to extract financial ransoms.
According to the sources, a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit arrived in a vehicle and arrested trader Mohamed Al-Mansour Mohamed Al-Tahir from his home, claiming he was wanted for questioning by the local forces office. He was taken to an unknown location and later released only after paying 14 million Sudanese pounds.
Another trader, Mutawakkil Al-Tayeb, was also abducted by armed men and freed after a ransom was paid, the sources said.
In a separate incident, a citizen from the Al-Mazroub area was kidnapped and released in exchange for 40 million Sudanese pounds.
The victims were beaten and tortured during their detention, with the kidnappers attempting to steal money through bank applications, according to the sources.
The RSF, which controls Wad Banda locality, had recently banned the use of Starlink satellite internet devices for about 21 days following drone strikes by the Sudanese army on targets in the area.
