Adré, November 23 (Darfur24)
Chadian authorities have arrested a suspect in the killing of a Sudanese refugee at the Alasha refugee camp, following investigations that have been ongoing since the incident occurred in June.
Sources told Darfur24 that the authorities have begun interrogating the suspect to gather more details about the case and clarify all surrounding circumstances. The sources added that officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening protection measures inside the camps, upholding the law, and ensuring accountability for anyone involved in violations.
According to the information gathered, the victim had left the camp after receiving a call from an individual requesting a meeting. She was later found murdered in an area near the Alasha camp.
Authorities managed to track and arrest the suspect, with initial findings, based on analysis of the victim’s phone data, indicating his involvement in the crime.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges facing refugee camps in eastern Chad, where limited resources and recurring acts of impunity hinder efforts to prevent abuses and protect vulnerable populations.
