Zalingi, November 15 (Darfur24)

Sources in Zalingei, Central Darfur State, reported on Thursday that a drone carried out heavy airstrikes east of the city, targeting several trucks parked in the Al-Borsa area.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said the attack allegedly by the Sudanese army struck a relief convoy that was en route from Zalingi to El Fasher in North Darfur.

A source inside the city told Darfur24 that the drone fired four missiles, causing loud explosions and sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky east of Zalingi.

Videos shared on social media and verified by Darfur24 showed several trucks engulfed in flames with smoke billowing from the site of the strike.

In a statement, the RSF accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the attack using a Turkish-made drone, alleging that the strike resulted in dozens of civilian casualties. The RSF claimed the convoy was carrying humanitarian aid and described the attack as a “systematic assault on relief operations,” calling it a “war crime” aimed at obstructing humanitarian access.

The Sudanese army has not commented on the RSF’s accusations at the time of publication.

Sudan has witnessed intense conflict between the army and the RSF since April 2023, with both sides frequently using drones to strike military and civilian targets in areas controlled by their rival.
