Nyala, November 15 (Darfur24)

The Ministry of Health in South Darfur State announced on Saturday that 16 new dengue fever cases have been confirmed out of 18 suspected samples.

In a press statement, the ministry said the new infections were recorded in the High Dam and Al-Salam neighborhoods in Nyala North locality.

With the latest results, the total number of confirmed dengue cases has risen to 87 since the first case was reported on October 21. The cases include 51 in Nyala North, 35 in Nyala Municipality, and one case in Al-Malm locality.

South Darfur’s Ministry of Health had earlier confirmed the first three cases of dengue fever in Nyala on October 21.

Health authorities continue awareness campaigns on dengue fever—transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito—focusing on prevention, mosquito control, and steps to take when symptoms appear.
