Kordofan, November 10 (Darfur24)
Intense disputes have emerged within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over the administrative affiliation of the Fuga region in Kordofan, according to high-level sources who spoke to Darfur24.
The sources said tensions have been building for months among RSF components controlling the areas of Al-Hamra, Umm Badr, and Al-Nuhud.
Forces stationed in Al-Hamra and Um Badr are pushing for Fuga to be administered under areas belonging to North Kordofan State, while RSF groups in West Kordofan insist that it be placed under the administration of Al-Nuhud.
Fuga, which is rich in traditional gold mining, is considered a strategic area due to the significant revenues generated from artisanal mining operations. This has made its administrative status a central point of contention.
According to Darfur24 information, the region is currently witnessing a series of intensive meetings between civilian and military leaderships from both West and North Kordofan in an attempt to resolve the dispute.
The sources indicated that some RSF commanders have expressed concern that assigning Fuga to one side could trigger broader social tensions and potentially lead to open conflict between the competing factions.
