Tawila, November 8 (Darfur24)

The medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) says displacement from the city of El Fasher is continuing, with approximately 300 people arriving in Tawila, North Darfur, on Thursday, November 6, according to field reports.

MSF has renewed its call to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to allow civilians safe passage, amid reports that many people remain trapped around El Fasher, with some reportedly being held for ransom.

MSF medical teams in Tawila report a significant increase in malnutrition among both children and adults, alongside sharply deteriorating health and humanitarian conditions inside displacement sites.

Since October 26, MSF has provided medical care to more than 1,300 people at the hospital and health center in Tawila, while continuing to assess the most urgent needs of newly arrived families.

According to the organization, many of the patients receiving treatment suffered severe violence, including gunshot wounds, fractures, and injuries resulting from beatings and torture. The organization noted particular concern for the mental and physical condition of children under five and pregnant women.

Displacement sites in the Tawila area are struggling under severe shortages of water, food, and shelter, as the number of displaced people continues to rise.

MSF currently works in eight states across Sudan and says it remains committed to providing medical assistance based purely on need, without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation.
