Khazan Jadid, November 8 (Darfur24)

The Khazan Jadid area in the Sha’iriya locality of East Darfur State has received a new wave of families displaced from the city of El Fasher, amid worsening humanitarian conditions.

According to humanitarian estimates, around 81,000 people were displaced from El Fasher in North Darfur after the Rapid Support Forces took control of the city on October 26.

Mohamed Osman, a humanitarian activist in Khazan Jadid, told Darfur24 that dozens of families arrived in recent days and are living in extremely difficult circumstances. He said most of the displaced are women and children who are struggling to secure basic needs such as food, water, and shelter.

“There was already a severe humanitarian shortage in Khazan Jadid before this new influx,” Osman said, calling for urgent intervention to support the displaced and host communities.

Towns and villages surrounding El Fasher have continued to receive thousands of people fleeing the city. Most have reportedly headed toward Tawila in North Darfur, controlled by the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour, while others have moved toward Ad-Dabba in Northern State, and to different areas in East and South Darfur.

Humanitarian organizations warn that displacement continues to rise as conditions in the region deteriorate.
