Bara, October 27 (Darfur24)

At least 23 civilians were killed and around 130 others remain missing in the city of Bara, North Kordofan State, following the entry of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), local sources told Darfur24.

The city has witnessed a sharp deterioration in humanitarian conditions since the RSF took control last Saturday, amid reports of killings, disappearances, and other serious violations against civilians.

According to sources, RSF fighters carried out summary executions targeting at least 23 civilians over the past few days, while imposing full control over neighborhoods and markets. The forces reportedly conducted extensive house-to-house searches for people suspected of links to the Sudanese army.

Residents said the operations have sparked widespread fear, forcing many to remain indoors amid a communications blackout and severe shortages of food and water.

Sources added that more than 130 residents, including entire families, have been missing since Saturday, with their fate still unknown.

Some families managed to flee to nearby villages and to El Obeid, despite poor road conditions and security risks.

In a statement, Emergency Lawyers described a “massacre” in Bara following battles between the RSF and the Sudanese army that ended with the army’s withdrawal. The group said the attacks directly targeted civilians, adding that “mass executions claimed the lives of dozens of residents, mostly young men,” alongside widespread arrests, looting, and destruction of property.

The statement added that the violence forced hundreds of people to flee amid difficult humanitarian conditions, while many others remain unaccounted for.

This escalation comes as fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF across North Kordofan continues, raising fears of a worsening humanitarian crisis and a repeat of the violations witnessed in other cities.
