Nyala, October 23 (Darfur24)
Leaders of the Beni Halba tribe’s native administration have reached a reconciliation agreement to end attacks between the tribe’s clans, following recent violence in the town of Ad Al-Fursan, about 86 kilometers southwest of Nyala.
The area witnessed clashes on Monday after a large number of cattle were stolen, leading to the deaths of two people and injuries to more than 18 others.
The violence broke out between two subgroups of the tribe, the Fiyarin and the Ouled Wadi, in the Bouba area, about 10 kilometers south of Ad Al-Fursan.
Mukhtar Abdullah, a tribal leader in South Darfur, told Darfur24 that the two sides reached a reconciliation agreement following mediation led by tribal elders and community leaders from Zalingei, Kabum, and Nyala.
He said both sides agreed to form a 20-member joint committee to oversee the implementation of the peace deal, stop further attacks, hand over those accused of cattle theft, monitor the treatment of the wounded, and offer condolences to the families of the victims.
