Nahud, October 13 (Darfur 24)
A woman was killed and several others injured in a drone strike in the city of Nahud, West Kordofan State, according to local sources.
Sources told Darfur24 that the Sudanese army carried out multiple drone strikes on Sunday, targeting several locations in Nahud. Shells reportedly fell near the Nahud Reference Hospital and the headquarters of the Dar Hamar Emirate civil administration.
The bombing resulted in the death of one woman and several civilian injuries. Sources noted a recent increase in Sudanese army drone attacks on the city, which has been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since May.
Residents continue to flee Nahud to rural areas and other cities to escape the aerial bombardment and insecurity that have plagued the area since the RSF takeover.
The latest incident comes amid ongoing shelling in Nahud. The city’s Al-Abyad bus station was recently targeted by a drone strike, killing three women and injuring others. An unspecified number of civilians were also killed in a separate drone attack on Al-Qardaya Market, the city’s main marketplace.
Drone strikes also targeted the Wad al-Hilu area west of Nahud, which shelters hundreds of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Since the RSF took control of Nahud in early May, security in the city has collapsed. Many residents initially fled to surrounding villages, but the lack of services and worsening insecurity have pushed them to flee again toward the eastern and northern regions of the country.
