Nairobi, October 8 (Darfur24)

A contingent of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) forces, led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, has returned to Kordofan after taking part in recent battles in El Fasher as part of the Tasis coalition.

One fighter, who preferred anonymity, told Darfur24 that the group was en route to El Fula, the capital of West Kordofan State, after months of fighting on the southern front in El Fasher alongside Tasis Alliance forces.

Eyewitnesses in El Daein reported seeing three large trucks carrying SPLM-N combatants arriving in the town on Monday via Nyala. The fighters, estimated to be in the hundreds, were wearing Rapid Support Forces uniforms with SPLM-N logo. They reportedly spent several hours in El Daein before heading east.

In August, SPLM-N had stated that its forces were not present in El Fasher at that time but would arrive soon, following agreements on coordination and joint military operations within the Tasis coalition. The statement came in response to accusations by the Joint Force of armed movements allied with the Sudanese army, alleging SPLM-N’s participation alongside the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the attack on El Fasher, North Darfur.
