Nyala, October 2 (Darfur24)

Two drones bombed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions in Nyala, South Darfur, on Wednesday, targeting areas near Nyala International Airport and a training camp in the Thuluj Mountains, military sources within the RSF told Darfur24. The strikes resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, including among senior RSF officers.

Sources said casualties from the bombing were transferred to the Martyr Barakat Allah Medical Center, the Turkish Hospital, and the recently reopened Yashfin Specialized Clinic. Some wounded officers were taken to Al-Moallem Hotel in the city center, where doctors were brought in from Al-Siddiq Clinic to provide treatment.

According to the sources, the RSF was preparing to graduate a new batch of recruits within days at the Thuluj training camp, located near the town of Dimo, southeast of Bulbul Tembeskawa, in Al-Salam locality.

Residents of Dimo reported hearing a large explosion at around 11:45 a.m. at the Thuluj (Kasar) camp. RSF forces quickly cordoned off the area and prevented civilians from approaching the site.

A second strike targeted a warehouse containing RSF drones near Nyala International Airport, east of the city, the sources added.

Eyewitnesses in Nyala said they saw ambulances and four-wheel drive vehicles rushing wounded soldiers to medical facilities in the city’s south.

The Thuluj Mountains camp was previously used by the Sudanese army to combat armed robbery. In June, a mysterious explosion also occurred at the same site.

Since last April, drone strikes have repeatedly targeted RSF military sites in Nyala, including Nyala International Airport, the Daman Hotel, the state government secretariat, and the Yashfin Specialized Clinic.
