El Fasher, North Darfur – October 1 (Darfur24)

A unit of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) allegedly abducted about ten women from a shelter in Al-Fursiya neighborhood in El Fasher, North Darfur, on Sunday, according to local sources.

Speaking to Darfur24, Ismail Adam Yaqoub, a community leader in Abu Shouk camp, claimed that RSF fighters raided the area and took the women to locations under their control east of El Fasher.

He said army forces later intervened and foiled an attempt to abduct more women after arriving at the camp, but several women remain missing.

A military source confirmed that army troops had thwarted a broader RSF attempt to arrest displaced persons, including women, during the same incursion.

Meanwhile, a recently released detainee, who identified himself only as Naji, told Darfur24 that dozens of abductees, including women, are being held in RSF detention sites east of El Fasher and are released only in exchange for ransom payments.

Local administrators in Abu Shouk camp previously reported that more than 50 displaced people, mostly women and children, were detained by the RSF during an incursion into the camp in August.
