Port Sudan, September 18 (Darfur24)

The government of West Darfur State has pledged to support Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad through a new agreement with humanitarian organizations aimed at providing health services to more than 50,000 people.

Governor Bahar al-Din Adam Karama stated that the plan encompasses vaccination campaigns, mobile clinics, and essential medicines. He noted that discussions with aid agencies also addressed strengthening health infrastructure in refugee camps, in preparation for the refugees’ return once the army regains control of the state.

Karama described the refugee crisis as a priority for his administration, calling it both a constitutional and moral responsibility, and urged greater coordination between government institutions and humanitarian actors, and appealed to international partners to expand their support.

The governor pledged to provide the facilities needed to ensure the success of these efforts within a broader plan to restore stability and the dignified return of refugees.
