The Secretary of the Islamic Movement’s Thought and Culture Secretariat, Muhannad Ibrahim Fadl, was killed during fierce clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which took place near the city of Al-Obyed, North Kordofan.

The Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement, Ali Karti, mourned the deceased, describing him as “the leader of the mujahideen and an icon of the war of dignity.”

On Wednesday, fierce clashes erupted between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the Abu Qaoud area near the city of Al-Obyed, North Kordofan, after the army attempted to advance westward toward areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces.

The Rapid Support Forces said in a statement that they had achieved a resounding victory over what they called “ISIS members of the terrorist Islamic Movement,” indicating that they had eliminated the entire troops of the attacking forces.

It added in a statement that it “inflicted heavy casualties on the attacking forces, amounting to more than 220 dead, destroyed 13 vehicles, and captured more than 90 fully equipped combat vehicles, including armored vehicles. It also seized various weapons, including (23) cannons, (107) rocket launchers, 14.5-caliber cannons, two- and four-barreled cannons, and large quantities of ammunition.”

In a subsequent statement, the Rapid Support Forces said they had completely eliminated the so-called “Elite Brigade,” which they described as “one of the most prominent arms of the Islamic Movement,” and which includes the Al-Baraa and Al-Barq Al-Qa’th Brigades.

The statement continued, “Our forces crushed this criminal movement and inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of terrorist elements, most notably the most dangerous leaders of the ISIS brigades.”
