Approximately nine civilians were killed and 13 others were injured on Tuesday as Rapid Support Forces RSF renewed artillery shelling on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

RSF’ artillery shelling of El Fasher came hours after they launched extensive attacks on the city on Monday. However, the Sudanese army and its supporting forces announced that they had repelled the attack.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that the RSF renewed their artillery shelling on Tuesday in the Naivasha camp market, the Abu Shouk al-Halla neighborhood, and the al-Daraja al-Awwal neighborhood, causing civilian casualties.

Ibrahim Adam Sabeel, a merchant in the Naivasha market, told Darfur 24 that RSF fired more than 30 shells at the Naivasha camp market, killing six people and wounding seven others.

In this context, Mohammed Musa, a displaced person at the Ali Bin Abu Talib School shelter, told Darfur 24 that Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued shelling the Abu Shouk and First Class neighborhoods in the western sector of El Fasher from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The bombing killed three displaced people and injured six others with varying degrees of severity. They were transferred to the Saudi Specialized Hospital for treatment.

Musa indicated that the victims included displaced people from Kutum and others who fled Zamzam camp and are sleeping in the open in Aldaraja neighborhood.

A health source at the Saudi Hospital confirmed to Darfur 24 that the hospital had received dozens of wounded as a result of the RSF shelling of Naivasha Market and several residential neighborhoods in El Fasher today, including civilians. The hospital is facing a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
