Kadugli, July 16(Darfur 24)

Sources revealed to Darfur 24 that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has partially suspended its activities in Kadugli, South Kordofan State, due to increasing logistical difficulties that have prevented the delivery of essential supplies to the city.

An informed source told Darfur 24 that the partial suspension was due to the difficulty in reaching the city for UNICEF staff following the suspension of its flights to Kadugli by the United Nations Interim Force in Sudan (UNISFA), which were the primary means of delivering vital materials and supplies.

The source added, “UNICEF relied on the logistical support provided by UNISFA to reach Kadugli, and with the suspension of UN flights, it has become difficult to continue providing humanitarian services.”

In the same context, the sources revealed that UNICEF’s decision to suspend its flights to Kadugli is due to the high cost of operating flights, which has led to a complete halt in supply operations. Full.

Residents of Kadugli, the capital, are suffering from deteriorating living conditions, amid warnings of an impending humanitarian disaster that could reach the level of famine, according to local sources.

Sources from Kadugli told Darfur 24 that the majority of the city’s residents are facing severe food shortages due to rising prices and scarcity of food supplies, amid a complete absence of humanitarian support previously provided by relief organizations.
