Sudan’s Transitional Prime Minister, Kamil Idris, issued a decree on Tuesday appointing Lieutenant General Hassan Daoud Kabron Kayan as Minister of Defense and Lieutenant General of Police Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali as Minister of Interior.

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idriss directed the Ministries of Defense and Interior and other relevant authorities to take measures to implement the decision .

The decree is part of the measures taken by Kamil Idris to form his new government after dissolving the previous one a few weeks ago.

The Justice and Equality Movement, led by Gibril Ibrahim, announced earlier today, Tuesday, its commitment to its executive positions in the Sudanese government, which it obtained under the Juba Peace Agreement.

Justice and Equality Movement spokesman Mohamed Zakaria Farajallah said in a brief press statement received by Doroob: “In response to what some media outlets have reported regarding the position of the peace parties, we affirm our commitment to the Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan, a full commitment to its principles and entitlements, including the executive positions approved pursuant to it.”

The peace agreement signed in the South Sudanese capital, Juba, in October 2020 granted the leaders of the armed movements a 25% share of the executive government, in addition to representation in the Sovereignty Council, quotas in state governments, and the position of governor of the Darfur region.
