El Geneina, June 23(Darfur 24)

Commander of the Rapid Support Forces RSF, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo also known as Hemedti, said that disputes with Egypt will be resolved through dialogue, pledging to respect the borders of Sudan’s neighboring countries.

Hemedti has previously accused Egypt of supporting the army with weapons and military equipment.

Addressing a large crowd of his forces in a jungle , Hemedti pledged to respect the borders of Sudan’s neighboring countries and to use the language of dialogue in dealing to tackle conflicts.

He said, “Our differences with Egypt must be resolved through diplomatic dialogue, not through conflict or military demonstrations. We have reviewed our calculations, and we must resolve our problem with Egypt through dialogue, at the negotiating table, not through bickering.”

He added, “We are not against any country.”

Hemedti emphasized that the army and the Islamic Movement have attempted to tarnish the image of the Rapid Support Forces among other neighboring countries, including South Sudan, Chad, and the Central African Republic, while his forces respect and cooperate with all neighboring countries.

Hemeti stated that the Rapid Support Forces secured the entire desert bordering Egypt and Libya after taking control of the “triangle,” which he said “was a hotbed of corruption, terrorism, illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and smuggling.”

He pointed out that the Rapid Support Forces took control of the “triangle” area to secure the entire desert, stressing that neighboring countries “will only find good from it.”

On June 11, the Rapid Support Forces took control of the border triangle between Sudan, Egypt, and Libya.

Back again

Hemeti stated that he had worked throughout the previous years to prevent the outbreak of war in Sudan, reiterating his accusation that the Islamic Movement was igniting the conflict to remain in power.

He pointed out that those who destroyed the country and its people cannot talk about “dignity,” emphasizing that his forces were fighting against a criminal gang whose members were united by self-interest, not the nation.

He described the Islamic Movement as “murderers whose nature is lies and hypocrisy, and whose actions are those of the devil.”

The commander of the Rapid Support Forces vowed to return to the areas his forces had previously lost, emphasizing the inevitability of the victory of justice.

Hemedti urged the leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, and the leader of the Justice and Equality Movement, Gibril Ibrahim, to join the change he seeks to achieve.

He added, “We have no problem with the people of Minni and Gibril. If they come tonight, they are welcome. We have no problem with them.”
