Babanusa, June 18(Darfur 24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have recently intensified its attack on the premises of the Sudanese Army’s 22nd Division in the city of Babanusa, West Kordofan State, in an attempt to seize control of the area, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.

The sources told Darfur 24 that the 22nd Division was subjected to an intense attack by the RSF on Monday and Tuesday after it crossed a minefield planted on the outskirts of the city.

According to the sources, the RSF attack began in the early hours of Monday morning, using heavy weapons and drones. It continued until midday, before the forces resumed the attack this morning.

The sources reported that SAF warplanes bombed areas where RSF elements were present around the city of Babanusa this morning.

The sources confirmed that the RSF were able to reach the city and penetrate as far as the Babanusa water station, which is less than one kilometer from the 22nd Division headquarters.

A week ago, Rapid Support Forces infiltrated Babanusa from the northeast, toward the Al-Sahafa and Al-Masnaa neighborhoods, before being repelled by the Sudanese army SAF , according to a military source.

The same source confirmed that mines planted around the city, approximately 10 kilometers away in all directions, completely destroyed the attacking force. Approximately 30 Rapid Support Forces personnel were killed or wounded.

On June 7, the second day of Eid al-Fitr, the Rapid Support Forces mobilized a large force of soldiers, under the command of Colonel Saleh Al-Futi, who arrived in Babanusa from the south, according to the same source.

It is worth noting that Babanusa has become completely empty of its residents after all the city’s residents fled to neighboring towns and villages following an attack by Rapid Support Forces early last year.
