Nyala, June 14(Darfur 24)

Two sources told Darfur 24 that a drone attack on the Al-Daman Hotel in Nyala, South Darfur, on Friday targeted foreigners.

The premises and positions of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Nyala, South Darfur, were attacked by drones on Thursday and Friday, with one of them being shot down.

Eyewitnesses and identical sources told Darfur 24 that a drone targeted a gathering of RSF recruits inside Nyala University in the Musaya area late Thursday evening.

Witnesses reported hearing two explosions on Thursday evening near Nyala University and Nyala International Airport.

They reported seeing four-wheel-drive vehicles and ambulances transporting the wounded from the university location to the Turkish hospital, located just meters from Nyala University.

Eyewitnesses who spoke to Darfur 24 gave conflicting accounts of the bombing that targeted Nyala on Friday evening. Some reported seeing a warplane hovering over the city before carrying out raids targeting the Al-Daman Hotel, a house, Nyala Airport, and the crossing. Others said the strikes were carried out by a drone.

They indicated that the bombing targeted a gathering of people inside a house in the airport neighborhood. They also reported seeing columns of smoke rising from the airport, located east of the city.

On Friday, the Rapid Support Forces announced the downing of an Akinji drone in the airspace of Nyala after it carried out indiscriminate bombing of residential neighborhoods, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians.

Drones have resumed targeting strategic positions of the Rapid Support Forces in Nyala, after a hiatus during Eid al-Adha.
