El Geneina, May 29(Darfur 24)

Field commanders of the Rapid Support Forces RSF announced on Thursday that they had taken full control of the city of DEbeibat in South Kordofan State, following short battle with the Sudanese army and the joint force.

Last week, Sudanese army forces had taken control of the city of Debeibat, located at a crossroads linking North, South, and West Kordofan states, following battles with the Rapid Support Forces, which have been stationed in the area since the outbreak of the war more than two years ago.

Security sources told Darfur 24 that the Rapid Support Forces launched a large-scale attack on the city of Debeibat on Thursday from several axes, resulting in their control after clashes with the Sudanese army’s Sayyad mobile unit.

The sources indicated that the fighting did not last long, after which the Rapid Support Forces were able to enter the city center.

RSF field commanders posted videos on social media showing their control of several locations in the area. The videos also showed dead bodies and destroyed vehicles.
