Chadian Minister of Solidarity and Humanitarian Affairs, Zahra Mohamed Issa, visited Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, accompanied by a European delegation that included officials from Britain and Norway.
The visit aimed to assess the humanitarian situation, where hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees are living in extremely dire conditions due to food shortages.
A Sudanese refugee told Darfur 24 that the European delegation’s visit aimed to assess the basic needs of Sudanese refugees.
He pointed out that the Chadian minister and her accompanying delegation visited the Adre border crossing to assess the continued flow of Sudanese refugees.
Minister Zahra held meetings with local officials and refugee leaders to discuss ways to improve their conditions and provide them with the necessary support.
794,000 Sudanese have sought refuge in Chad since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15, 2023, out of a total of 3.9 million people who have crossed into neighboring countries.
