Sources revealed to Darfur 24 that the Sudan Founding Alliance also known as “Tassis” has chosen Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commander of the Rapid Support Forces, as its chairman, while Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), was chosen as his deputy.
The sources said that consultations are ongoing to select the remaining members of the alliance, in preparation for the next phase of forming a peace government.
The “Foundation” coalition, which was formed last February, includes Sudanese forces led by the Rapid Support Forces, the SPLM led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, and the Revolutionary Front, in addition to political forces including the National Umma Party and the original Unionist Party.
The Sudan Founding coalition approved its founding documents in February and March in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, represented by the “Political Charter and Transitional Constitution,” which stipulated the secularism of the state.
