January 27, 2025 El-Geneina – Darfur24 Kanabi Conference reported that Sudan Shield forces led by Abu-Agla Kaikal prevented citizens in Dar-Alsalam Al-Hidaiba Kombo in El-Gezirah State from burying more than 10 bodies, resulting in their decomposition and being devoured by dogs in a “painful scene that does not befit human dignity.”

Residents of some Kanabi, which are communities around irrigation channels in El-Gezirah Project, faced violations, prompting the Chairperson of the Sovereignty Council, Abdal-Fattah El-Burhan, to form a committee on January 15th to investigate the violations that occurred in Kombo Tayba.

Kanabi Conference, in a statement seen by “Darfur24,” said that Sudan Shield forces prevented the residents of Dar-Al-Salam Al-Hadiba Kombo from returning to their homes even to bury the bodies.

Kanabi Conference condemned this “inhumane” behavior by the armed groups affiliated with Sudan Shield forces.

Kanabi Conference called for immediate burial of the bodies, providing necessary protection, holding those responsible for these violations accountable, and stopping all hostile actions against Kanabi residents.

The statement stressed the need to form a fact-finding committee to bring justice to the victims and the intervention of Armed Forces and the Joint Forces of the Armed Movements to enforce the rule of law and protect civilians.

Human rights groups documented videos showing human rights violations by Sudanese Army Forces and their allies, including the killings of citizens in a shocking manner in Wad-Madani, the Capital of El-Gezirah State, and several Kanabi.
