January 12, 2025 Nyala – Darfur24 Eyewitnesses from Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, revealed that a citizen was killed as a result of the Sudanese Army’s warplanes launching violent airstrikes on large parts of the city on Saturday evening.
A medical source at Nyala Teaching Hospital told “Darfur24” that one dead person was transferred from “Koma” area, northwest of Nyala, to the hospital.
Al-Koma area is located near the Fighters’ Training Center of the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala, which is controlled by Rapid Support Forces.
Omar Adam, an eyewitness from Nyala, said that an Antonov warplane flew over the city and dropped 8 shells on Nyala Airport east of the city, Mosaih’s Dormitory at Nyala University, the former UNAMID Headquarters northeast of the city, and the Fighters’ Training Center of the 16th Infantry Division in Domaya area.
For the eighth consecutive day, the Sudanese Army’s warplanes have been launching airstrikes on the city of Nyala, causing damage to some homes in the city.
A medical source at Nyala Teaching Hospital revealed to Darfur 24 early this January that 6 civilians were killed and 8 wounded as a result of airstrikes launched by an Antonov warplane, with 11 shells targeting Nyala Airport, Taiba neighborhood east of the city, Nyala University headquarters in “Mosaih”, the crossing on the Nyala-Fasher road, Nyala Secondary School, and southwest of Domaya.
Six people from one family were killed in western El-Wadi neighborhood last December as a result of an airstrike by a warplane that targeted their home.
Since October of last year, Nyala Teaching Hospital has recorded the deaths of about 24 people and the wounding of 34 others as a result of airstrikes, without accurate statistics on the transfer of some of victims to other health centers and the Turkish hospital.
