البرهان يهاجم القوى السياسية

Wadi Halfa, October 21 (Darfur24)

Sudanese army chief and Sovereignty Council head Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has renewed his criticism of political forces aligned with the Sumud coalition, accusing them of inciting foreign powers against Sudan and vowing to continue the war until the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) lay down their weapons.

Addressing a crowd in Wadi Halfa, in northern Sudan, Burhan said former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok would not return to power, adding that anyone seeking to govern the country must do so through elections.

“There is no place for any traitor or agent in Sudan,” he said.

Burhan ruled out negotiations with the RSF until the group lays down its weapons and withdraws from cities. Otherwise, he said, the army would continue fighting until what he described as the “rebellion” was defeated.

His remarks came days after he announced on X that he had informed US President Donald Trump of his support for Washington’s efforts to end the war in Sudan.

The US proposal calls for an immediate 90-day humanitarian truce without preconditions, followed by negotiations on a permanent ceasefire and a political process leading to a civilian-led transition and elections.

The proposal also includes a UN-led mechanism to support limited RSF withdrawals from priority areas, including North Darfur and North Kordofan.
