The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have begun digging a trench and constructing earthen barriers around Al-Nuhud in West Kordofan State amid increased military deployments in and around the city, local sources told Darfur24 on Monday.
The sources said machinery began digging the trench toward the city’s northern gate as the RSF reinforced its presence with additional fighters and military equipment.
They said RSF combat vehicles have been deployed at Al-Qardaya market, the main market, and near the transport station in the Al-Zubal neighborhood, as well as in several eastern parts of the city.
The sources also reported that some RSF fighters had withdrawn from front lines to Al-Nuhud, while others moved toward areas in East Darfur State.
The developments come amid intense fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF across Kordofan, with conflicting reports over army advances and control of several areas in North Kordofan.
