At least 20 people, including women, were killed and others injured in tribal clashes in the Al-Dabib area of Al-Firdous locality, East Darfur State, before the violence spread to neighbouring Al-Sunta area, according to local sources.
The clashes reportedly began with a dispute between two people in Al-Dabib before escalating into armed tribal fighting that initially left four people dead.
Sources told Darfur24 that the arrival of tribal groups and civil defence forces further escalated the clashes, resulting in the deaths of 16 additional people, including women, and the looting of livestock.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) reportedly deployed reinforcements to the area, including more than 60 vehicles from Buram and Al-Daein and about 50 combat vehicles from Nyala.
A local leader, speaking anonymously, said contacts between local administrations helped calm the situation, with both sides agreeing to halt the escalation and “civil panic” operations.
The sources said the RSF subsequently arrested several people it described as “outlaws” as part of efforts to contain the tension and prevent renewed clashes.
The violence comes amid recurring tribal conflicts in parts of Darfur, where the rapid mobilization of armed groups can quickly escalate disputes, increasing casualties and threatening local stability.
