Blue Nile, June 30 (Darfur24)
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) said on Wednesday that eight civilians, including women and a child, were injured in a drone strike on the Injili area of Kurmuk locality in Blue Nile State.
In a statement seen by Darfur24, the movement accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the attack, saying it wounded local community leader Habil Malakal and destroyed his home. The statement said seven other civilians were also injured, including three women and an eight-year-old child.
The SPLM-N said the Injili strike was part of a series of attacks on civilian areas in Blue Nile State, citing previous drone strikes on Yabus and Balila. It described the attacks as violations of international humanitarian law.
Separately, the “Establishment” coalition condemned what it described as the Sudanese Armed Forces’ targeting of civilians and local community leaders. It called on national legal authorities, humanitarian agencies and human rights organizations to investigate the alleged attacks in the New Fung region and hold those responsible accountable.
Darfur24 was unable to verify the SPLM-N’s allegations independently, and there was no immediate response from the Sudanese army to the accusations.
