Al-Nuhud, June 01 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday transferred dozens of detainees from western Bara in North Kordofan State to prisons in South Darfur, raising concerns among residents and rights advocates over the treatment and fate of civilians arrested following recent violence in the area.

The transfers come in the wake of deadly clashes between RSF fighters and armed groups from the Dar Hamid tribe in the towns of Murra and Umm Saadoun Al-Sharif, west of Bara, which left dozens of civilians and RSF personnel dead.

Eyewitnesses and local sources told Darfur24 that the detainees were transported to Nyala aboard four RSF combat vehicles. Witnesses said they observed several civilians handcuffed during the transfer.

According to local sources, the RSF has carried out a broad arrest campaign targeting individuals accused of involvement in the recent fighting in Murra and Umm Saadoun Al-Sharif.

RSF spokesperson Lt. Col. Al-Fatih Qureshi said during a press conference that the force had established an investigation committee to examine the incidents in western Bara and that the committee had already begun its work.

The developments come amid escalating tensions across North Kordofan, where residents fear the violence could spread to additional villages and towns, further worsening security and humanitarian conditions in the region.
