Khartoum, May 31 (Darfur24)

The National Umma Party on Saturday accused the Sudanese army of carrying out a drone strike on two civilian vehicles in West Kordofan State, killing 10 people, including eight children, and injuring several others.

In a statement, the party said the attack took place Saturday afternoon on the road linking Abu Zabad and Al-Fula, describing it as a “horrific crime” that claimed the lives of innocent civilians.

The party strongly condemned the incident, arguing that the targeting of civilians constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and the principles governing the protection of civilians during armed conflicts.

It warned that the growing use of drones in populated areas and along public roads has become an increasing threat to civilian lives and safety.

According to the statement, similar incidents have occurred in different parts of Sudan in recent months, resulting in dozens of civilian deaths and injuries. The party called for stronger action to halt what it described as repeated violations against civilians.

The Umma Party said the continuation of the war, coupled with mounting civilian casualties and widespread abuses, is deepening Sudan’s humanitarian crisis and worsening the suffering of its population.

It renewed its call on all parties to the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and take immediate measures to protect civilians, while urging them to respond to national, regional, and international initiatives aimed at ending the war and achieving a just and lasting peace.

The party also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Drone attacks have become an increasingly prominent feature of the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, with both military and civilian sites frequently coming under attack.
