Nyala, May 15 (Darfur24)

The city of Nyala in South Darfur witnessed a series of drone strikes for the third consecutive day on Thursday, with attacks targeting areas in the industrial district and near Nyala International Airport, according to eyewitnesses and local sources.

Residents and multiple sources told Darfur24 that four explosions were heard on Thursday morning. Two of the blasts occurred near a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) maintenance workshop in the industrial area, while the other two struck areas near Nyala International Airport.

Sources said drones repeatedly targeted locations in the industrial district, as well as areas east of Nyala Technical College, where Rapid Support Forces facilities, warehouses and officers’ residences are located.

Witnesses reported that the RSF imposed tightened security measures following the attacks, including closing several roads in the Al-Qasharat neighborhood and restricting the movement of vehicles and rickshaws.

An informed source within the RSF told Darfur24 that the leadership in Nyala had also introduced stricter internal procedures, including banning officers and personnel from carrying phones or personal belongings into official meetings amid fears of surveillance and targeting.

The source added that absences from regular meetings are now viewed with suspicion, particularly if meeting locations are later targeted by drones.

The escalation comes as Nyala witnesses increased political activity linked to meetings of the Sudanese Founding Alliance, TASIS, which has established the city as its administrative headquarters. Several senior alliance leaders, including Rapid Support Forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, are believed to be present in the city.
