Nyala, May 11 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Buram locality, South Darfur State, have carried out a wide-scale arrest campaign targeting several local figures, according to residents and local sources.

Eyewitnesses and local sources told Darfur24 on Sunday that an RSF military force arrived from Nyala on Thursday and arrested several teachers and civil servants, including a retired teacher identified as Hafiz and another teacher named Mohamed Hamed Bishara.

Sources said the campaign also targeted figures linked to the regime of former President Omar al-Bashir, who was overthrown during the April 2019 revolution.

According to the sources, those detained included seven members of resistance committees and emergency rooms, former minister Adel Jaber, administrative officer Muawiya al-Tahir, and one RSF leader in the region.

The detainees are expected to be transferred to Nyala town.

Another source said the mass arrests began shortly after the force arrived in Buram on Thursday afternoon and continued late into the night, with some individuals detained after RSF forces raided their homes.

The RSF had previously arrested several members of the former ruling National Congress Party in Buram locality and transferred them to the Korea Prison in Nyala.
