Nairobi, May 07 (Darfur24)

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have launched a wave of arrests targeting prominent leaders of the National Congress Party in West Darfur State, accusing them of espionage and activities aimed at undermining security and stability, according to local sources.

Sources told Darfur24 that those detained include Issa Baraka, head of the National Congress Party in West Darfur, and Mohamed Jarma, the party’s secretary for organizational communications.

The arrests were reportedly carried out by an RSF force that arrived from Nyala in South Darfur without prior coordination with local authorities in West Darfur.

Sources added that the arrest list may expand to include additional political figures, amid expectations of further detentions in the coming hours.

In a separate development, local sources said RSF forces also arrested the executive director of Um Kadada locality in North Darfur, Rabih Fadl Rabih, before transferring him to Daqris prison in Nyala.

The reasons behind his detention remain unclear, though local accusations have linked him to alleged financial irregularities and an attempted escape to army-controlled areas before his arrest.

The latest arrests come amid growing security tensions and an expanding crackdown by the RSF in areas under its control across Darfur.
