Kordofan, April 24 (Darfur24)
Approximately 115 people from Al-Hamra village in Bara locality, North Kordofan State, have been displaced to Omdurman in Khartoum State due to escalating insecurity, according to the International Organization for Migration’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) report on Thursday.
DTM field teams said the displacement began on Wednesday, April 22, as the security situation in the village rapidly deteriorated, prompting families to flee in search of safer areas within Khartoum State.
“The security situation in the region is deteriorating rapidly, forcing residents to flee suddenly,” the matrix said in a statement.
The displacement comes amid ongoing security tensions across parts of North Kordofan, which has increasingly become an active conflict zone and is experiencing heightened instability.
“The situation remains extremely tense and rapidly changing, and we are continuously monitoring displacement movements,” the statement added.
The IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix is a key mechanism for monitoring population movements in Sudan, regularly documenting displacement triggered by conflict and other crises.
