Um Dafuq, March 18 (Darfur24)
Authorities in Birao, Central African Republic, found the body of a Sudanese refugee inside a water well in one of the camps on Tuesday, in an incident that reflects the worsening suffering of refugees in obtaining water.
According to Sudanese refugees in the camp, the victim, identified as Musa Ahmed Mohamed Idris, was found dead inside the well before being transferred to the morgue by the local authorities.
Refugees reported that documents found in the victim’s possession indicated that he came from the Abu Jaradil area of Central Darfur State.
According to multiple sources, the victim likely fell into the well while trying to fetch water, which led to his immediate death.
The incident highlights the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by Sudanese refugees in border camps, especially in light of water scarcity and the absence of basic services.
