Jebel Marra, March 09 (Darfur24)

Three civilians have been arrested by the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) in the Jebel Marra region, sources told Darfur24 on Monday, over alleged spying for hostile entities.

The detainees—Ahmed Saleh Ahmed (“Tonic”), Al-Rashid Janqali, and Youssef (“UK”)—have been held in detention centers controlled by the SLM for several days. Relatives said they were first taken to the Jau detention center before being transferred to the military police headquarters in Trang Tonga, with no access granted to family members.

An anonymous source reported that the young men were tortured before their transfer, while SLM authorities threatened anyone speaking about the arrests on social media or calling for their release. A movement insider told Darfur24 that the detainees will face trial.

The SLM controls large parts of Jebel Marra, spanning South and Central Darfur, as well as the Tawila locality in North Darfur.
