Kadugli, March 05 (Darfur24)

The Ministry of Education in South Kordofan State has completed arrangements to hold the Sudanese secondary school certificate examinations on April 13, despite ongoing security challenges in the region.

Al-Tijani Hamouda Koman, Director of the Education Department at the state ministry, told Darfur24 that 8,156 students are registered to sit for the exams across 79 centers in 12 localities.

He said 5,251 students are enrolled in the government track, 625 under teachers’ unions, and 2,289 in private education. The total number exceeds the ministry’s initial projection of 4,800 candidates and is also higher than last year.

Koman detailed the distribution of centers across the state, including Dilling, Al-Tadamun, Kadugli, Abu Jubaiha, Rashad, Abbasia, Abu Karshula, Dalami, Hebeila, Qadir, Aliri, and Talodi localities, with varying allocations for boys, girls, and mixed centers.

He confirmed that students’ data has been submitted to the Federal Ministry in preparation for completing final procedures.

Koman warned that the unstable security situation could affect the movement of students, teachers, and examination supervisors.

He also cited funding constraints, particularly the lack of a dedicated budget to provide meals for students and staff during the examination period.

Despite the challenges, Koman noted that South Kordofan ranked third nationwide last year for the first time, attributing the achievement to the dedication of teachers working under difficult conditions.
