Nyala, January 19 (Darfur24)
Displaced residents from Kalma camp, east of Nyala, reported on Saturday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) arrested three young men in Al-Daein city last month, after they traveled there seeking work amid worsening living conditions in the camp.
Ahmed Mohamed Abkar, the father of one of the detainees, told Darfur24 that his son Al-Samani Ahmed Mohamed, along with Abdel-Malik Adam Osman and Musa Saeed Abkar, left Kalma camp in December heading to Al-Daein in search of employment after conditions in the camp became “unbearable.”
He said RSF forces arrested the three at the Al-Daein land port immediately upon arrival, after which all contact with them was lost. Days later, Abkar traveled to Al-Daein, where RSF intelligence officers confirmed the arrests and told him the detainees had been transferred to Nyala.
Abkar said he then returned to Nyala to search for the men, but received conflicting information about their place of detention, with reports alternating between Daqris prison and the Al-Borsa detention center.
In recent months, the RSF has detained dozens of young travelers attempting to reach areas controlled by the Sudanese army in northern and central Sudan, with East Darfur and North Kordofan serving as key transit routes.
Darfur24 has previously documented multiple cases of young men, women, and elderly people detained by RSF forces in Kordofan states.
