Sinja, January 13 (Darfur24
A drone strike targeting a security committee meeting in Sinja, the capital of Sennar State, killed several guards and security and military officials and caused civilian casualties, a military source told Darfur24 on Monday.
The source said the meeting brought together security leaders from Sennar, White Nile, and Blue Nile states, and described the attack as being carried out by a strategic drone. He added that the number of civilian casualties is still being assessed.
An eyewitness told Darfur24 that Sinja Hospital received multiple wounded people following the attack, while local social media pages issued urgent appeals for blood donations.
Meanwhile, Sennar State government spokesperson and Director-General of the Ministry of Education, Salah Adam Abdullah, said anti-aircraft defenses engaged the drone before it struck the city, confirming that civilian casualties had occurred and were under evaluation by relevant authorities.
White Nile State authorities announced the death of protocol officer Al-Mahi Hammad Ibrahim, a member of the governor’s guard, and Sergeant Abdul-Hadi Al-Safi, who were killed in Sinja while on duty.
The White Nile State government accused the Rapid Support Forces of carrying out the attack.
