Dilling, January 07 (Darfur24)
Security authorities in Dilling, South Kordofan State, have imposed a complete ban on civilians leaving the city, days after drone strikes killed dozens of residents and injured scores more.
On December 30 and 31, drone strikes on Dilling killed 57 civilians and injured 48 others, including children, amid an increasingly dire health and security situation.
Sources told Darfur24 that authorities issued strict directives preventing residents from leaving the city without providing reasons for the decision or clarifying how long it would remain in effect.
The move has created widespread fear and confusion among residents, particularly as the city continues to face drone strikes, heavy artillery shelling, and ongoing threats of attack by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) and the Rapid Support Forces.
According to the sources, dozens of families who attempted to flee the city after the latest attacks were stopped by security forces. All roads leading south toward Hajar al-Jawad and north toward N’Djamena have reportedly been closed.
Residents of Dilling say they are living in constant fear as civilians and public facilities continue to be targeted by aerial and artillery attacks.
