El-Obeid, January 06 (Darfur24)

Medical sources said 10 people, including nine members of a single family, were killed in a drone strike believed to have been carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the city of Al-Abyad, the capital of North Kordofan State.

Sources told Darfur24 that the strike targeted a house in the Al-Jallabiya neighborhood, west of the city, killing children and adults from the same family. Several wounded were transferred to Al-Abyad Accident Hospital for treatment, while the bodies were taken to the morgue.

The sources noted that Al-Jallabiya lies in the western part of Al-Abyad and has a heavy presence of regular forces.

North Kordofan has witnessed intense fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in recent weeks, worsening the humanitarian situation and contributing to rising food prices.

In a related context, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that about 64,890 people were displaced from various locations across the Kordofan region between October 25 and December 30, 2025, due to escalating insecurity.

According to IOM, displacement tracking teams recorded 56 incidents during this period, including 17 in North Kordofan, 38 in South Kordofan, and one in West Kordofan.

The organization added that an estimated 42,780 people were displaced from seven areas in North Kordofan, including Um Dam Al-Haj Ahmed, Bara, Jabra Al-Sheikh, Sheikan, Um Rawaba, Al-Rahad, and West Bara.
