Nyala, December 22 (Darfur24)
Medical sources said on Saturday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have released several detained medical personnel in recent days, without issuing any official announcement.
Sources told Darfur24 that despite these releases, the RSF continues to hold several medical workers in Dagris and Kober prisons in Nyala, South Darfur State.
On December 16, the World Health Organization (WHO) said it was alarmed by reports from Nyala indicating that more than 70 health workers were being forcibly detained, along with approximately 5,000 civilians.
The WHO said it is working to gather further information on the circumstances of the detentions, noting that ongoing insecurity is complicating verification efforts.
The organization described the reported detention of health workers and thousands of civilians as deeply concerning, stressing the need to protect medical personnel and civilians at all times and calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
