Kordofan, December 14 (Darfur24)
Two civilians were killed and three others wounded on Saturday in an attack attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) east of Wad Banda town in West Kordofan State, eyewitnesses said.
Witnesses told Darfur24 that an RSF unit travelling in a Land Cruiser equipped with a heavy machine gun and light weapons intercepted a civilian transport vehicle near the village of Beit Sheikh, about 20 kilometers east of Wad Banda.
They said the RSF opened fire on the vehicle, killing two people and wounding three others, before looting the passengers’ goods and fleeing to an unknown location.
The victims were traders traveling from the Fuga area toward the south, carrying commercial goods and supplies destined for the Abu Zeid area.
In a separate incident last week, traders were reportedly robbed of cash and mobile phones by an RSF unit while on their way to the market in the village of Al-Ma’arka, south of Wad Banda.
West Kordofan has witnessed a severe deterioration in security, with residents reporting repeated killings and robberies allegedly carried out by RSF elements. Despite complaints filed at RSF checkpoints in towns and villages, residents say the violations have continued without accountability.
