El Fasher, December 8 (Darfur24)

Doctors in El Fasher, North Darfur, warned on Saturday that more than 1,500 patients and wounded people urgently require medical evacuation as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.

According to UN agencies, tens of thousands of civilians remain trapped in the city, from which more than 106,000 people fled after its capture on October 26. Those recently displaced from El Fasher, including medical personnel, reported worsening suffering among patients left behind due to the near-total collapse of healthcare services.

A health worker with a humanitarian organization told Darfur24 that over 500 patients and wounded individuals at the Saudi Hospital are struggling without adequate treatment. Similar numbers are reported at the Children’s Hospital and Al-Rashid Internal Medicine, where patients are enduring “indescribable conditions” and “dying slowly,” amid what sources describe as tight restrictions and secrecy imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), who control the city.

The source added that shortages of medicines, food, and basic sanitation services have intensified the suffering, particularly among those injured in the conflict.

In addition to the medical crisis, around 200 families remain trapped in Abu Shouk displaced people’s camp, facing dire living conditions with no access to essential supplies. Displaced residents say they are unable to leave due to RSF-imposed movement restrictions on civilians stranded in El Fasher.

A nurse who recently returned from a mission with the RSF described the situation in El Fasher as “an unimaginable humanitarian hell,” and appealed to the group to allow humanitarian organizations immediate access to evacuate the wounded from the Saudi Hospital, the Children’s Hospital, and the Al-Rashid University dormitory.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has reiterated its call on the RSF and allied forces to guarantee safe, unrestricted passage for all civilians—especially the sick and wounded—and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Qarni, El Fasher, and other areas where survivors remain trapped.
