Khazan Jadid, November 19 (Darfur24)
Displaced families who recently fled El Fasher and arrived at the Al Nakheel camp in Khazan Jadid, East Darfur, are enduring dire humanitarian conditions, with minimal aid reaching them, according to Abubakr Khamis, the camp leader.
Khamis told Darfur24 that around 500 families have arrived in batches since the Rapid Support Forces took control of El Fasher on October 26. He said the displaced are living without basic services, particularly water and shelter, and that no assistance has been provided by any organization.
Fatima Abkar, one of the displaced, said she and her five children arrived after five days of fleeing and are in urgent need of food and shelter.
While local committees and initiatives have offered some support, Khamis said it is insufficient given the growing number of displaced people, including new arrivals from other parts of Darfur.
He called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to respond immediately, warning that delays could turn the situation into an uncontrollable humanitarian crisis.
