The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in West Darfur State have allowed Gum Arabic exports to Chad through the Adikeng border area, near the Adré crossing, according to sources who spoke to Darfur24.
The sources said the RSF had notified Gum Arabic traders of new directives permitting exports to neighboring countries. Traders have since begun preparations to transport shipments to Chad through Adikeng.
A Gum Arabic trader told Darfur24 that traders had received notification that exports could resume, allowing the commodity to be transported across the border into Chad.
The RSF had previously banned the export of Gum Arabic to neighboring countries and issued directives prohibiting its movement across the border.
According to the sources, Gum Arabic exports are subject to several fees, including charges imposed by the Border Trade Administration of the West Darfur State Ministry of Finance, as well as taxes and zakat.
Adikeng is a border trading area between West Darfur and Chad. In recent years, it has become an active trade route, with authorities and armed groups collecting fees on goods crossing the border.
