The Ministry of Health in South Darfur State, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), announced on Sunday a rise in dengue fever cases across the state.

According to the ministry’s General Directorate of Health Emergencies, 18 confirmed cases of dengue fever have been recorded so far in the localities of Nyala and Nyala North, where the disease began spreading on October 21.

The ministry reported the detection of seven new suspected cases on Sunday, including six in the Al-Mazad neighborhood of Nyala Municipality.

Among the confirmed infections, 13 cases were reported in the Al-Sadd Al-Aali neighborhood of Nyala North, and eight cases in Al-Mazad, Nyala Municipality.

 

Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes. The epidemic has been reported in several Sudanese states, including Khartoum.
